{"id":6440,"date":"2025-06-26T14:38:56","date_gmt":"2025-06-26T11:38:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rusgazcryo.ru\/cryogenic-air-separation-units-for-oxygen\/"},"modified":"2025-11-28T09:42:03","modified_gmt":"2025-11-28T06:42:03","slug":"kriogennye-vozduhorazdelitelnye-ustanovki-vru-po-kislorodu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rusgazcryo.ru\/en\/kriogennye-vozduhorazdelitelnye-ustanovki-vru-po-kislorodu\/","title":{"rendered":"Cryogenic air separation units for oxygen"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The main components of atmospheric air are nitrogen (~78.08%) and oxygen (~20.95%).<br\/>In smaller amounts it contains noble gases (argon, neon, krypton, xenon), carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide (carbonous oxide), and other impurities. <\/p>\n\n<p>Depending on its intended use, oxygen is supplied in the following types:<\/p>\n\n<p>Technical oxygen \u2013 99.5\u201399.7% O\u2082<\/p>\n\n<p>Medical oxygen \u2013 99.5% O\u2082<\/p>\n\n<p>Process oxygen \u2013 99.5\u201392% O\u2082 and lower.<\/p>\n\n<p>The specifications for technical and medical oxygen are regulated by GOST 5583\u201378.<\/p>\n\n<p>Oxygen produced by cryogenic oxygen plants is widely used in:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A slightly more precise technical version would be:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In foundry production to increase combustion temperature and improve product quality;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the chemical industry for the synthesis of sulfuric acid, ammonia, methanol and other substances;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In non-ferrous metallurgy, to enrich the blast air in the smelting of copper, zinc, nickel, and other metals, which increases their yield;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In medicine, rescue operations, the pulp and paper industry, and other sectors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><strong>The main advantages of using cryogenic units:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The ability to obtain high-purity oxygen with a minimal content of impurities in both liquid and gaseous form;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cost effectiveness for large production volumes;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Long service life and high operational reliability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Principle of operation<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>The technological process for producing high-purity oxygen is based on cryogenic rectification of air and is implemented using air separation units (ASUs). The process consists of several stages, during which the following operations are carried out: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The air is compressed by compressor units to the required pressure;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the combined purification and drying unit, the air is cleaned of carbon dioxide, moisture, and undesirable hydrocarbons;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The gas is liquefied, passes through a turboexpander and a system of heat exchangers, and is then fed into rectification columns to be separated into its main components and to extract rare elements: oxygen is withdrawn from the bottom of the column, argon from the middle, and nitrogen from the top.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>The resulting gaseous oxygen is fed into gas holders and cylinders, and also supplied to the end user via a gas pipeline.
