Atmospheric evaporators from 70 to 10,000 nm³/h

Liquefied air separation products and natural gas are converted into a gaseous state using atmospheric evaporators of cryogenic liquids. The devices look like a set of air heat exchange panels with parallel-serial collection. The unit’s performance depends on the heat exchanger surface area, humidity, and ambient temperature. Maximum performance is achieved in dry, hot, windy weather.

Principle of operation

Liquefied nitrogen, oxygen, argon, and carbon dioxide are passed through a system of heat exchangers. The heat from the surrounding environment is sufficient to convert the pumped liquids into gas. There is no need to connect to external energy sources. After passing through the cryogenic atmospheric evaporator, the gases are transferred to containers or process lines.

Requirements for production evaporators for LNG regasification are set out in GOST R 55892-2013.

The heat exchange surface area is calculated based on the assumption that the temperature difference between the substance contained inside and the surrounding environment does not exceed twenty degrees Celsius.

Construction

An atmospheric evaporator for liquid oxygen and other cryogenic liquids looks like a frame with parallel pipes. The presence of fins increases the heat exchange area. Vertical installation takes up less space and is more efficient than horizontal installation. The evaporator inlet and outlet are equipped with flanged or threaded connections. Control, measuring, and safety devices are installed according to customer requirements.

Classification

Atmospheric evaporators are designed to operate at temperatures ranging from -196°C to +50°C at pressures of:

In low-pressure evaporators, contact with the external environment is provided by the surface of an aluminum profile with fins. In units designed for high pressure, stainless steel pipes are placed inside longitudinally finned aluminum cavities.

Cryogenic atmospheric evaporators are used to convert liquid gases into a gaseous state through evaporation. They are used in industries where liquefied gases need to be stored and transported. The main component is a heat exchanger, which transfers heat from the external environment to the liquid in order to evaporate it. It is made of stainless steel or aluminum and comes in different configurations, depending on the conditions. An important factor in operation is effective management of the liquid flow. To achieve optimal performance and prevent undesirable consequences, it is necessary to strictly control the amount of liquid entering the evaporator, as well as its temperature and pressure. This can be achieved by using special control and regulation systems that can ensure the stability of the evaporation process. Such systems reduce the time spent on manual control and also reduce the risk of errors and emergencies. Cryogenic atmospheric evaporators are an important component used in systems for storing and transporting liquefied gases such as oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, and helium. They enable safe and efficient transportation and storage at low temperatures.
