Cryogenic tanks are used in the oil and gas industry and in thermal power engineering for receiving, storing and dispensing cryogenic liquids such as liquid nitrogen, hydrogen, oxygen, helium, argon, carbon dioxide, LNG and others.

They are used as storage vessels for cryogenic products to be gasified as part of gasification systems.

Purpose of cryogenic tanks

In the oil and gas sector and in power generation, systems using substances operated at temperatures from –273 °C to –153 °C are widely used. Cryogenic products include nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, helium, argon, neon, methane; contact with them can cause burns, frostbite and poisoning. Therefore, special requirements are imposed on vessels with a capacity from 5 to 100 m³, which are used to store, transport and dispense hazardous liquids and gases. Structural materials and insulation layers must ensure product integrity and prevent leakage. The inner vessel is usually made of stainless steel, while the outer shell is made of low-alloy carbon steel. Perlite–vacuum or shielded–vacuum insulation is used.

Characteristics

Cryogenic tanks for LNG, oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen and helium are welded steel pressure vessels with vacuum insulation.

Main parameters:

  • Working pressure: 0.6 MPa
  • Operating temperature: down to –196 °C
  • Tank volume: over 40 m³, with a filling factor of at least 90%
  • Insulation type: shielded–vacuum
  • Steel grades used:
    • Inner tank and fittings: corrosion-resistant austenitic stainless steel grade 12Х18Н10Т
    • Outer shell: low-alloy structural steel grade 09Г2С

Optional equipment includes an atmospheric vaporizer with a capacity up to 1500 Nm³/h.

We offer cryogenic tanks for purchase

Currently, brand-new tanks with volumes of 40 m³ and 8 m³ for storage of nitrogen, oxygen, argon and liquefied natural gas are available from stock.

The factory warranty is 18 months from commissioning, but no more than two years from the date of shipment.

The equipment is designed for an operating life of twenty years or more.
