Helium liquefiers

Application

With the development of high-tech industries, demand for strategically important gas is growing. Helium production supplies cryogenics, medicine, and companies that manufacture fiber optics and semiconductors.

To obtain liquid helium at the outlet, open systems are used, requiring the supply of an equivalent amount of product at the inlet from the network or cylinders. The units operate in two modes: liquefaction and cooling.

Placement and installation of a helium liquefier

The components are assembled in different, adjacent rooms;

• a liquefaction unit and a reinforcement shield mounted on a single frame;
• automated control and monitoring system;
• condenser with cryogenic pipe outlet.

The principle of operation of the liquefier is based on the use of a closed refrigeration cycle with medium pressure and preliminary cooling with nitrogen.

The panels contain fittings and devices responsible for control and management.

• Linde – Hampson with preliminary cooling using liquid nitrogen and hydrogen;
• Capacitors using a nitrogen bath piston expander;
• Collins (development of Claude’s system) with two to five detanders included.
